Adaptation of Jeremias Gotthelf's world-famous novella with Lilith Stangenberg, Nurit Hirschfeld, Anatole Taubman and Marcus Signer. Sumiswald in the Emmental in the 13th century. The courageous, young midwife Christine makes a pact with the devil in order to free her village from the brutal terror of the Teutonic Knights.
